Data engineers at R2 are central to building systems that unlock new financial opportunities for small and medium businesses across Latin America, utilizing a data-first approach.

Small and medium businesses (SMBs) make up over 90% of companies in Latin America, yet they face a trillion-dollar credit gap. We are reimagining the financial infrastructure of Latin America - where SMBs financial needs are satisfied without ever having to go to a bank.
R2 enables platforms in Latin America to embed financial services that SMBs can then leverage (starting with revenue-based financing). We are a tight knit team coming from organizations such as Google, Amazon, Nubank, Uber, Capital One, Mercado Libre, Globant, J.P. Morgan. We are entering a new phase of growth following a strategic investment from Ant International, focused on rapidly expanding our partner footprint, strengthening our credit and underwriting capabilities, and scaling our operations across multiple markets.
We integrate with some of the largest technology platforms in Latin America and embed tailored financial services that SMBs can then leverage. We’re a data-first company. Data is the core of our product and the lifeblood for all of our decision making. Data engineers sit at the helm of R2 by building the systems that enable new financial opportunities to thousands of small businesses across Latin America.
What you’ll work on

• Design and maintain our data pipelines, ELT processes, and data warehouse.
• Create robust ingestion pipelines across integrations with our partners.
• Build processes required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources.
• Maintain documentation of data architecture and processes.
• Implement data models in the data warehouse that standardize and denormalize data from multiple sources.
• Strive to get everything automated by implementing and maintaining a robust data orchestration system.
• Build integration components that can be generalized across multiple platforms.
• Ensure data integrity by setting up alerts to know when data fails to update.

Who you are

• You have deep software engineering skills, with extensive experience (5+ years) working in Python.
• You have experience with ELT patterns, and have worked with appropriate tools such as Airbyte, Fivetran, etc.
• You are comfortable working with data orchestration systems and data pipeline tools such as Airflow, Astronomer, Dagster, or equivalent.
• You are an expert in SQL and data modeling with relational databases and data warehouses
• You have experience implementing data modeling and data transformation jobs with modern tools such as dbt.
• You are proficient in working with git-based version control.
• You have experience contributing to the architecture and design of new and existing data processing systems (architecture, reliability, monitoring, and scaling).
• You have collaborated closely with analysts, data scientists and machine learning engineers as your core “customers”.
• You are endlessly curious and want to automate everything.

Bonus points

• Experience with cloud data warehouses (Redshift, Snowflake or BigQuery)
• Experience working within the AWS ecosystem
• Experience working with 3rd party API’s
