The position will lead, supervise, and manage engineering and operational activities across the Automation and Control portfolio. The role oversees Engineers and Senior Engineers, manages network-wide automation operations, ensures system availability, and executes both routine and strategic functions related to automation, instrumentation, communication networks, and centralized control operations. The position is responsible for CAPEX and REVEX planning, daily load management support, system performance, and ensuring reliable operations of field and CCR-based control systems.
Eligibility / Qualification Required:
Bachelors in Electrical / Electronics / Mechatronics / Instrumentation or equivalent with at least 6 years of relevant experience. Candidates having experience within gas distribution, oil and gas, utilities, petrochemicals, or energy sectors will be preferred.
Job Description / Responsibilities:
- Supervise and mentor Engineers and Senior Engineers, ensuring quality of work, task allocation, and performance development.
- Provide technical direction for automation, instrumentation, and communication system activities across transmission, distribution, and metering facilities.
- Ensure adherence to engineering standards, operational guidelines, and organizational policies.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of Automation and Control Systems, ensuring system uptime and continuous availability of SCADA, PLC/RTU, and communication networks.
- Monitor and manage operational performance, alarms, and troubleshooting activities for field and central systems.
- Coordinate with CCR (Central Control Room) for real-time operations, system health monitoring and gas load management support.
- Ensure timely resolution of field issues related to automation hardware, communication networks, and control logic.
- Supervise installation, commissioning, preventive and corrective maintenance activities across all sites.
- Ensure that field teams follow safety, operational, and maintenance procedures.
- Validate FAT, SAT, validation protocols, and site test procedures executed by the team.
- Prepare, manage, and monitor CAPEX and REVEX budgets related to automation systems, field instrumentation, communication infrastructure, and CCR operations.
- Oversee project planning, cost estimation, BOQs, tender specifications, and technical evaluations. Participate in strategic planning for upgrades, expansions, and modernization of Automation & Control infrastructure.
- Approve and guide design of automation systems, including P&IDs, control philosophies, loop diagrams, VO lists, and network architectures.
- Lead decisions on network topologies, redundancy schemes, and communication protocols for mission-critical infrastructure (Star, Ring RSTP/MRP/PRP/HSR, Linear/Bus).
- Oversee configuration and diagnostics of industrial switches, VLAN segmentation, routing and redundancy protocols, and security settings.
- Ensure secure and reliable communication between RTUS, PLCs, field devices, and central SCADA/Automation servers.
- Oversee technical activities related to daily gas load management, system balancing, and real-time data availability.
- Ensure accurate and timely telemetry, flow data, and automation support to Gas Operations and CCR teams.
- Review technical reports, performance dashboards, and maintenance summaries for higher management.
- Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, Measurement, Transmission, Distribution, IT, and Planning departments for smooth operations.
- Strong command of PLC/RTU programming, HM/SCADA systems, and industrial communication protocols (Modbus TCP/IP, Modbus RTU, DNP3, IEC suite, OPC DA/UA).
- Expertise in field instrumentation, analyzers, control panels, and system integration.
- Deep understanding of industrial networks, Layer 2/3 switching, VLANS, redundancy protocols, and cybersecurity.
- Experience with design reviews, tender documentation, technical evaluations, and vendor management.
